Growing in Faith

St. Margaret Church and St. Mary Magdalen Mission

Elementary Faith Formation

(Grades K-5)

Children grades K- 5 learn what it means to be followers of Jesus!  In the classroom, children learn Catholic tradition and doctrine as Catechists implement faith sharing through prayer and Scripture. Family gatherings take place four times throughout the school year in the church and are required as part of the Faith Formation program.

Classes and family gatherings are held on Wednesday evenings, beginning September 20, 2023 through April 2024.

(Pre-3 & Pre-4)

Our PreK program invites children ages three and four to gather together in a preschool setting. During this time, children will begin to learn about the Catholic faith through lessons featuring Bible stories, music, crafts, prayer, and various activities. Classes are held in the St. Margaret Preschool building located next to the church on the main campus. Catechists are trained and VIRTUS certified through the Archdiocese of Baltimore. Children must be completely potty trained to be able to attend.

Registration is required, and a fee of $40 is due at the time of registration. The registration fee covers the cost of all materials and craft supplies that will be used throughout the year. Each family will be asked to donate one snack item during the year. Sessions begin on Sunday, September 17, 2023, and end in April, 2024.

First Reconciliation

In preparing for this Sacrament, parents work together with their children and discover God’s healing and loving presence in their lives.

Both the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Eucharist are unique in the way in which they make Christ present in our lives and in the lives of our children.  The simple faith of your child at this age presents the perfect opportunity to explain both God’s rules for living and His desire to stay in close friendship with us.  For this reason, we encourage you to have your children receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation before they prepare for their First Eucharist.

If you have questions about preparing your child for the Sacrament of Reconciliation, contact Joan Motsay Brown at 410-879-2670 or 410-838-6969, ext. 127.
